20 May 2025 Oak Guernsey bolsters leadership team with new client director hire

Oak Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Sam Matthews as Client Director, Trust & Corporate, further strengthening the firm's leadership capabilities and commitment to serving ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients. 

With more than 15 years of industry experience, Sam brings deep expertise in managing complex UHNW structures, including trusts and companies, family offices, and pension arrangements. His strategic appointment as Client Director represents another key addition to Oak’s senior leadership team. He will lead a newly established private client team, reflecting the firm’s ongoing growth. Following the recent appointment of Julie Coutu as Managing Director, the pair will play a pivotal role in strengthening Oak’s private client services across international markets.  

Sam’s arrival comes at a significant moment for the Group. Oak’s parent company, Opera, has recently completed the acquisition of Amber Trust Ltd, a Bahamas-based fiduciary business. Amber is known for its proactive fiduciary solutions and concierge-level service to UHNW individuals and families. Sam’s in-depth experience in this segment will be instrumental in supporting and expanding the growing client book resulting from this strategic acquisition.
