In 2022, we had the privilege to participate in the inaugural Sustainable Finance Awards, hosted by Jersey Finance. Four of our directors, attended the event and were blown away with the fantastic evening that unfolded at Durrell Zoo. The event was a testament to the unwavering commitment our Island has towards sustainable finance, and the representation from the industry was top-notch.
Fast forward a few months, we received an email from Jersey Finance, offering us a tree to be planted at Grow. What’s the catch? We had to get our hands dirty and join them on Friday afternoon to plant it – of course we’re in!
It was a typical spring afternoon, sunny, and wet, of course. We were greeted by Sheena who gave us a warm welcome and took us to the plot of land which would become our trees permanent homes.
Sheena talked to us about Grow and their goal to become the largest and most inclusive organisation for social and therapeutic horticulture - a fantastic idea that we wholeheartedly support.
Jo and I were quite the duo as we carefully selected our Quince tree and planted it, now named, Quincy Jones. Each tree was given its own identity and QR code that, once scanned, provides details of the business that planted it and the type of tree.
Living on an island surrounded by other likeminded individuals, committed to sustaining our green spaces is a blessing and being fortunate to have the support from Oak, which provided Jo and I, the fantastic opportunity to take a break from our usual office routine and spend some quality time in nature.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time planting Quincy Jones, and look forward to watching it grow and flourish in the years to come!
