We’re proud to support the annual Jersey Hospice Christmas Tree Collection service

Oak Jersey sponsor Jersey Hospice

We're proud to be the new sponsor of the annual Jersey Hospice Christmas Tree Collection Service which will be taking place, January 2023. This incredible event, which has raised over £300,000 since 2005, allows Jersey Hospice to provide all services, both at the Hospice and in the community, free of charge to anyone in need of their support and care.

According to Carbon Trust, each year, nearly six million Christmas trees are discarded in landfills, but by utilising the Jersey Hospice Christmas Tree Collection Service, you can reduce your emissions by up to 80%.

The event is run solely by volunteers who give up their time to drive collection vans island-wide, man phone lines, and organise registrations. By sponsoring this event, Oak hopes to not only raise vital funds for Hospice, but also provide Islanders with a convenient and environmentally conscious way to dispose of their Christmas trees.

Jersey Hospice recycles the donated trees by chipping and mulching them to create soil fertiliser for local farms, thereby eliminating harmful emissions from single car trips to La Collette.

Jo Gorrod, Managing Director of Oak Group Jersey, said, "We are proud to have volunteered in previous years, and now delighted to now be the sole sponsor the event, as it contributes significantly to the sustainability of our beautiful Island and to the quality of life of locals in need of palliative care."

The Christmas Tree Collection is a fun community event that typically occurs on or after the Twelfth night following Christmas and can be scheduled for either business or residential collections.
